Joe Eyison to be buried on March 2
Accra (Greater Accra) 27 February 2002- A 150-member delegation made up of representatives of the family of Joe Eyison and members of three organisations on Tuesday informed the government of the death of the actor and musician.
The family and members of the Copyright Society of Ghana, Musicians Union of Ghana and Obra Drama Group informed the government through the Minister of Information and Presidential Affairs, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and announced that Mr Eyison would be buried at the Osu Cemetery on March 2.
Ms Grace Omaboe, the spokesperson, said wake would be kept on Friday March 1 at the premises of MUSIGA from 6pm and a Church Service would be held at the same venue on Saturday before the burial. A statement from the Ministry said the delegation presented two bottles of schnapps and an official letter to the government announcing the death.
Mr Kofi Sekyiamah, Chief Director of the Ministry, who received the delegation on behalf of Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey, expressed the government's condolences to the bereaved family and members of the arts and music industry.
He described Mr Eyison, alias Station Master, as an illustrious son and a role model for young Ghanaian artistes. "His death was not only a loss to the family but the entire nation," he said.
