British Council boss opens pottery exhibition

 

Accra (Greater Accra) 28 January 2003- The Director of British Council, Dr Terence Humphreys on Monday called for the strengthening of by-literal relationship between Ghana and United Kingdom.

 

He said the two countries needed to enhance and create awareness of their democratic values and processes as well as work in partnership to strengthen good governance and human right within the Commonwealth.

 

Dr. Humphreys said this when he opened a six-day pottery and ceramic exhibition under the theme, "The modernity of traditional values/works- the essences of development."

 

The British Council Director said Ghana and United Kingdom's cultural creativity, traditional diversities and scientific innovations needed to be promoted to enhance co-operation.

 

Samuel Lovi, the exhibitor said the essence of the work was to portray and blend the value of traditional norms, culture and creative works with modern colour and techniques to enhance its quality, value and durability.

 

The over 50 works which are mainly decorative pieces of pottery/ceramics product include, double headed comb vase, shell cook vase, lizard vase, akwaaba plate, coasters, village landscape, double space candle holder, cone candle holder and Bimbila coffee table.
