Ahmadiyya Mission donates to fire victims.
Garibakrom
(Ashanti Region) 9 March 2000
The Ashanti Regional Branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission
has donated relief items worth 30 million cedis and a
cash of 1.4 million cedis to fire victims at Garibakrom, a
farming community near Nsuta, in the Sekyere West District.
They comprised 20 bales of second-hand clothing, three
bundles of roofing sheets, two bags of sugar, three bags each of maize, rice
and gari, 40 mats and assorted soaps.
The Regional
Missionary for Ashanti, Maulvi Khalid, said the donation was a manifestation of
the mission's sensitivity to the physical and spiritual needs of the victims.
Maulvi Khalid said the Ahmadiyya Mission has re-constructed
a mosque at a cost of seven million cedis for the inhabitants of the area.
He announced that similar relief items would soon be donated
to fire victims at Bellona, also a farming community in the Sekyere West
section of the Afram Plains, who suffered the same fate a day after the
Garibakrom incident.
