Religious leaders have been called upon to intensify their education to their members, especially the youth, to avoid having multiple partners and indulging in unprotected sex to curb the fast spread of the AIDS epidemic.
Dr Nasurulla Khan, medical officer in charge of Agona Swedru Ahmadiyya Muslim hospital made the call when he addressed the Agona circuit Jaisa conference of the Mission at Gomoa Afransi on Wednesday.
Dr Khan, who spoke on modern trends of AIDS, urged the government to facilitate access to appropriate reproductive health information for the youth.
He acknowledged that there is a high level of awareness on HIV/AIDS, but said there is still the need to create more awareness to change sexual habits of the people.
