Ishmael Addo, Sulley Muntari to make Slovenian trip
Special dispensation to Jones Attuquayefio on Hearts chief executive job
Accra (Greater Accra) 15 May 2002 - Two players Ishmael Addo and Sulley Muntari are likely to join the Black Stars team for their match against their Slovenian counterparts as replacements for Otto Addo and Charles Amoah.
Sources at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) secretariat said the two players are expected to join their colleges in Italy where the team would group before moving to Slovenian for Friday's encounter. Asked the criteria used in selecting the two the source said they were selected because they wanted to use mainly foreign players who can make easy connections to join their team rather than deprive local teams of their players whiles the league is still in progress.
The match, which, forms part of Slovenia's build up to the World Cup, which starts on May 31, The Eastern European nation are in group B along side Spain, Paraguay and Tunisia. The match would also be watched by the new coach of the Black Stars, Millan Zivadinovic who would take over the reigns of the team on May 20th as the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Friday approved of his appointment and a monthly salary of $8,000.
Meanwhile a contingent of nine players, made of three local based players namely Sammy Adjei, John Paintsil and Issah Rahman are expected to leave the country for Italy where they would be joined by their other foreign-based clubs for the match.

Accra (Greater Accra) 15 May 2002 - Accra Hearts of Oak’s aspiring Chief Executive, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, has received the nod from the club’s Board of Directors to apply for the vacant position.
This followed a fruitful discussion between the board and the former technical director of the club at a meeting last week. Revealing this to the press on Tuesday, coach Attuquayefio indicated that he was granted a special dispensation after failing to meet the deadline for the submission of applications on his arrival from the US.
He noted that he found it necessary to report to the board from whom he sought permission on his departure, as well as announce to them about his intention to become the next Chief Executive of the club. “Having been given the chance to apply makes me a hot favourite for the job,” he opined. He therefore declared his intention to file his application today. “The special dispensation means I’m recognised and that the board has confidence in me,” he stressed.

Accra (Greater Accra) 15 May 2002 - Mr Assah Mallah, a Patron and former board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has appealed to the various parties to end the bickering and press war that have been going on in the club in the last few days.
In a statement he said he read with pain a story published in an Accra sports bi-weekly on 11 May attributed to Asante Kotoko Concerned Supporters Union. The concerned supporters had lambasted Mr Herbert Mensah, the Chief Executive of Kotoko, for his disapproval of a statement
He stated that apart from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who is the owner and spiritual head of Kotoko, only structures of the club, such as the Patrons, Circles, Kotoko Ladies and former directors whose existence have the blessing of the Otumfuo and recognised by the entire Kotoko family.
“It is my personal view that such release as the one that appeared in the above mentioned publication should emanate only from any of the recognised Kotoko organs,” he stressed. He appealed to all true supporters who do not belong to any of the organs of the club to pass their grievances through the office of the Otumfuo or any of the recognised organs and not the press.
He therefore, urged all stakeholders of the club to respect and obey the board and chief executive appointed by the Otumfuo and offer them the necessary support to ensure peace.
