Let's censor films-Ganfaa

 

Lawra (Upper West) 18 May 2002- Mr Sylvanus Ganfaa, the Lawra District Chief Executive (DCE) called for strict censorship of films before being sold out to help curb the high rate of crime and immorality among juveniles.

 

The DCE, who was speaking at a day's educational forum organised by the District Directorate of National commission on Civic Education (NCCE) at Lawra, said: "I believe this would help stop the high rate of violence and lawlessness among our children."

 

Mr Ganfaa appealed to on parents and teachers to be morally inclined and to collaborate efforts to ensure that children were giving the right training. He called for the re-introduction of story telling in schools and the practice of customary rites such as the puberty by traditional authorities to avoid early sex and violence among children.

 

Mr Clement Vaare, Lawra District Director of NCCE, called on Ghanaians to support the government in nurturing the country's young democracy. He said the NCCE would educate the people on their rights and responsibilities to ensure peace and stability.
