C.K. Akunnor gives to Help Age Ghana
Ghana Boxing Association releases ratings for the year
Accra (Greater Accra) 22 May 2002 - Charles Akunnor, former Skipper on the national team, the Black stars, on Tuesday donated food items worth ˘15 million to the Help Aged Ghana, a non governmental agency responsible for catering for the aged in Accra.
The items include cooking oil, tin tomatoes, milk, Milo, bags of rice, mosquito's sprays, toilet rolls, soaps, and some bags of sugar. The donation, which has become a yearly ritual for the former skipper who plies his trade with Wolfsberg in Germany, is his third in as many years. The player has made similar presentations to the Osu Children’s Home in the previous two years. Akunnor said he received a lot of support from Ghanaian players in Germany for this "dream" to materialise.
Ms Joanna Baddoo, Board Member of Help Age expressed appreciation to the player for the donation. She said the items have come at a time when the organisation is in dire need of them and called on Ghanaians to support the aged in the society since the external family system is gradually fading.
Ms Baddoo, 70, said "the society needs people like Akunor to the come to its aid." She urged the former skipper to spread the "gospel" to his colleagues and encourage them to show similar appreciation to the aged.

Cape Coast (Central Region) 22 May 2002 - Central Region division two campaigners, BRM Stars, beat Ghana’s Black Satellites, the National Under 21 soccer team 1-0 in a friendly match played at the Cape Coast Sport Stadium at weekend.
BRM, playing one of their best games in recent times outclassed the Satellites in all departments of the game but had to wait until the 36th minute to go ahead when outside left Kofi Baah Jnr. scored with a header. In the second half, BRM continued to dominate the game but their forwards squandered many chances that came their way.
In the dying minutes, Satellites changed the tide in their favour and nearly equalised but substitute Stephen Attipoe fluffed the opportunity. Coach Isaac Paha, in charge of the Satellites, attributed their loss to stress "as the team had played three friendly matches the week before."
