16 communities in the Tema municipality participated. The Community Four team
was presented with a trophy donated by the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) plus
one million cedis while the second and third places had ˘800,000 and ˘500,000
respectively.
The Community seven

all the participating teams had consolation prizes.
Addressing the players
after the match, Edward Ashietey Armaah, an elder of Tema Traditional Council
(TTC) who represented Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku impressed upon the
authorities to construct a modern stadium to befit the status of Tema.
Armaah, a retired
referee, regretted that Tema, the industrial nerve of the country has no
presentable stadium to boast off saying that the deplorable state of the
present stadium is not encouraging footballers to put in their best.
Following the poor
condition of the stadium, very important matches that needed to be hosted at
Tema had to be played at the Accra Sport Stadium hence the gala was played on
the Community four Presco Park.
E.C.K. Azumah, a
Director of the TMA said in view of the good performance displayed by the
players, the authorities would consider making the gala an annual affair among
the communities. To this end, he called on the leaders to register their teams
with the TMA which would find how best to assist them.
Kofi Mensah Demetia,
Director of Administration of the TDC and chairman of the anniversary planning
committee announced that a trade centre would be established at the coastal
area of Tema to promote business and tourism.
