Pan-African Students Festival ends

    

Takoradi (Western Region) 18 September 2002 - African youth were at the weekend requested to develop their talents to an appreciable level to enable them to exploit the continent's rich resources towards accelerated development.

 

Mr Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive, made the call at the end of a eight-day Pan-African Students and Youth Festival in Takoradi.

     

He urged them to acquire skills and qualification, especially in science and technology and pool resources for socio-economic development.

 

Mr Nkrumah said the continent had numerous opportunities, which the youth could take advantage of to improve upon their capabilities. He asked them to contribute effectively to the economic development of their countries to promote trade among African countries.

 

Mr Nkrumah commended the ECOWAS for taking positive steps to forge economic integration in the sub-region. The festival was attended by delegates from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo and Burkina Faso.
